    Default Lake of Egypt

Anyone care to share some tips on finding the crappie at Lake of Egypt this time of year? I've never specifically targeted crappie on this lake. I usually fish it for bass during the warmer months. I've heard of some folks catching some decent ones lately, though, and wanted to try it out.

Might make a trip there this weekend, weather permitting.

fish points on main lake with weed beds 4ft - 5ft deep over deeper water. 6lb test clear line and a small cork casting a 1/16/oz head with your favorite bait. I prefer a blue color. North end is usually good this time of year. I favor cloudy days over sunny. Very Clear lake.

Thank you. The only crappie I've ever caught on Egypt were big slabs I accidentally caught while bass fishing. Hoping that may change this weekend.

No, not wanting little ones, lol, just wanting to target and catch them.

I'll let you know how it goes.

I know all about life getting in the way. I did make it out there that weekend but it was far too windy to accomplish much more than giving the boat a quick run and boating a small bass on a blade bait.

Planning on going Thursday but it looks like the wind will be from the south again so it will mess with the warm water.

Yea, I live up near St Louis and when we got up it was 49 degrees and blowing 20+. Decided just to tie some rigs. I plan to head down early Sat and stay over night. Do a little pre-fishing for the Crappie USA event in March. Gotta get the boat out and make sure the modifications are all functional.
