THAT TIME OF YEAR, and REND LAKE is our "memories-maker" for 2015!
It is the time of year I really look forward to. My dad and I are heading out on our 10th annual trip together. We aren't pro's, and don't understand everything that comes with crappie fishing. Sometimes our fishing is just plain "crappie", to be honest with you. But, I was sitting here thinking about it the past couple days. He's 65 this year, and I'm hitting 40 in less than a year. Yes, I wish I had more time with him to do stuff like this, as he didn't fish until I begged 10 years ago. Since then, my family gave him a boat, and he has fallen in love with it. Here is my advice to you all, and I know dad would say the same......MAKE TIME TO MAKE THE MEMORIES! We both are ministers, and do funerals for individuals (I did one for an individual just a couple weeks ago). Two things I always hear: stories that give comfort due to the memories of things they have done and experienced, and "If I only had a little more time to...". Take time, make time, make memories! Like I said earlier, we may not catch a single fish.....but I guarantee I'll have plenty of memories that will far outlast the number of fillets in my freezers, as we will laugh hard, talk a ton, solve the world's problems while on that boat, and fiercely love our time with each other. So, REND LAKE...see you for the next 5 days! It's not just about the fish...but those do "help"!!!

Best of luck to you and your dad. Cherish the memories...I know I sure do.

I lost my father in law 2 years ago...he was my best buddy and fishing partner. He was an old basser turned bluegill/crappie addict. He became a kid again when 'we' rekindled his fishing passion. I'm so glad I was able to spend a few really solid years with him before he got bad. We had some really fun times and lots of discussions in our little two man fish catching machine. We also had alot of quiet time together that was soothing and relaxing. Up until the end he would talk about fishing and our time together. I think of him often when I'm reeling in fish using his favorite popeye jigs. I miss ya Big Ed....great thread mrwillis

Hope you catch a boat load. Most of all have fun. That's what's important.
