as far as I know its more of a bass lake that a crappie lake. where you located at
I'm itching to get the boat on the water this weekend and was wondering if anyone on here has fished lake Jacksonville yet, or usually fishes it. Never see anything posted about it on here

I live right in Jacksonville, it is known more as a Bass lake but does have a decent crappie population, I just have never seen anyone talk about it on here
I don't know much about the Lake. I do know I will be in Jacksonville the end of April for my son's baseball tournament on the turf fields. I've been there once before and its a fun place to play ball. If the Lake is really close to town I may need to bring my crappie rod and try fishing from the bank. If the Lake has any good bank fishing. Please post if you go out and how you do. Also if there is any opportunity from the bank
If the timing is right I'd have a seat for you on my boat but I'm only able to fish weekends. The best bank fishing would be on the back side of the lake around Asbury Church
that is awefully kind of you. I will be in town April 19th, 20th & 21st. The tournaments are sort of crazy.... So I'm not sure which times of the day I could fish, Once I get the tournament schedule which will be the week of April 15th... probably on the 17th... I'll let you know. I sent you a PM.
was on the lake last friday for 6 hours. 10 or 15 little ones for each keeper and very few keepers. crappie not doing well in this lake.
I have been fishing it for the past 10yrs and its a very good crappie lake, use to have a 25 fish limit at 9" which has been lowered to 15 at 9", just make sure you have a boat permit as they usually have a security guard sitting in his personal vehicle near the ramp checking boats....The building at the ramp that sells the permits usually doesn't open until mid April so you will have to go to City Hall to purchase if you go before than, don't go without one or they will write you a ticket...Getting back to the fishing as commented above the lake is best known as a bass lake and 95% of the boats you see are bass fishing, the other 5% are enjoying the hidden secret of a damn good crappie lake!
I have the permit sitting on my seat, just have to pull the boat out of the garage to put it on, really hoping last years really low lake level didn't hurt the fishing to much. I fish off of a Z6 nitro that is silver with a red stripe hope to see some of you out there
Does the lake have much visible or non-visible brush? I thought this lake was well known for tons of vegetation vs. brush? Thanks!
