Default Special needs kids - Rend Lake

Just returned today from Rend Lake taking kids that are chronically or Terminally ill fishing. This is the second year that United Special Sportsmen's Alliance along with Rend Lake Resort have had some special kids fishing.

Crappie Xtream and I were among the anglers taking the kids out for a day of enjoyment. There were about 20 some kids there some of them being siblings of the special kids. Lots of great fish stories will be told when they get home.

Like last year for me it was difficult to say good bye this morning. Already I'm looking forward to next year.

    Thumbs up That's awesome!

You guys are to be commended for helping those special kids build memories that will last the rest of their lives, however long that may be. As my Granddaddy would have said..."Ya'll done good!"

Hey Ranger looks like you had a safe trip home. I talked to one of our local news paper reporters today he wants me to send him a picture of the check and the kids tomorrow. I think he will put in a nice article about the event.
Ray and I are looking forward to next year. And i'm sure we will get the FOP involved more.
I want to thank you for asking me to come along and help donate my time it was well worth it. I know my kids sure liked helping also, I think we can get a lot more help next year.
I would like to see a hunt at Wayne Fitzgeralds for the kids. It is plenty big enough and there is no reason why the state should not allow something like that. That would be something to work on.
Thanx again Ranger and I sure am glad we got to meet.

    Take care
    Scott.

    Crappie Extreme,

Excellent job and an excellent idea on the hunt. Let me know if you get something going on that as I can probably help depending on when. Also let me know next year before this fishing deal. I can donate some time and a boat.

let me know if you get something going on a hunt. I'm no longer a hunter but enjoy it and love to help make memories for these very special kids.

Seeing people take time away from their busy schedules and help out kids like that brings a tear to my eyes, you never sit down and realize how lucky you are sometimes. Cheers, gentlemen!

Ranger375 it means a lot to mean that you guys are doing things like that for people that are in need. I have a nephew that is a special need child and my father and i take him out to the lake as often as he can go. I just wanted to say thank you.

I have said it before and I'll keep on saying it. I'm not sure who gets the most out of these events the anglers or the kids. For any who might want to know more about the organiztion that puts on these events check out

They not only take the kids fishing, but they arrange for hunting trips as well.

It is really a wonderful opportunity for anglers/hunters/outdoors folks to give a little something extra for some young folks. Some of whom may not be with us very much longer. The toughest part of these events is the leaving, but the kids have a memory they will never forget and myself I have some very special friends that with the help of the internet I'll keep in contact with.
