I always use minnows this time of year. their metabolism is so fast that you will feel 2 bites with jigs, when they suck it in and when they blow it out. I used 1 pound of minnows last Sunday. It is impossible to run 6 rods. the fish were/are stacked on a bluff bank in a major cove. stay in the shade if you can, early or late if you can't. also be aware of any shade lines on bridges. around here you won't get many big fish, but when you find them, you find them all. these fish were 4 ft down in the shade and 10 feet in the sun over 10-13 ft of water

Try a crank bait it realy works .
I use to think that people trolling around lakes did not no how to find the fish . Boy was I ever wrong. I read an article on this board on trolling crankbaits for crappie . I put this into action this weekend wow ! We only caught six crappie but none under 10in. and one close to 14in. We also caught largemouth and chanelcat. Great way to take a kid fishing you never no what will hit that crankbait . Best day I had since May.

Here is a website posted on the Kentucky board by crappiepappy. It makes for some very good reading.

Sorry about that fellows. I couldn't bring up the page when I clicked on the website. Go to the Kentucky board and go to the thread on "cranks" and scroll down until you see the post by crappiepappy. He has the website on there.
