Remember, when it's done it's still supposed to FLOAT... watch all that weight you are adding or you could turn it into a submarine!!

I hope this helps you out Jer - I'm sure the mods you're making will make it more 'fishable' and comfortable. I'll be surprised if it helps a whole lot with regard to how much the wind affects it. I've fished in plenty of 'heavy' jon boats and those vertical sides will still catch wind like a sail - heavy or not... Plus weighing it down with the equivalent of another 'body' in the boat is really gonna slow that boat down.

What happened to the Ranger? That boat should be very easy to manuever and deal well with the wind.

    Hi Carl,

I still got the ranger....But, I wanted to get the panfish boat ready for Coffeen......I already got a lot of money tied into the panfish boat....So, I really can't sale the boat and get what I want out of it...So, the panfish boat is going to be my Coffeen boat....I think the extra weight won't hurt....As long as isn't too much that is slows the boat down a lot....We added some weight but not a ton of weight.....I think the boat will run in 20's....Which it ran 23-24mph before.....I think the extra weight will help keep the boat from moving a bit.....But, I am going to go test it out this Thursday...

    Default let me know..

I'll be curious to hear how this plays out...

Like I said - if it makes it more comfortable and fishable - then the changes will be worth it. I wish I could find me a nice Coffeen rig... I know they're out there....
