They will always be there.
Hey guys i was reading on another site last night and learned that our Zettler is going through a rough life choice. As any of us who have had that four legged fishing or hunting buddy knows there comes a time when you must make the decision of when to send your four legged companion to the fishing boat or duck blind in the sky. Zettler is suffering through this choice right now with his lab. Please send him your prayers and condolences helping him through this rough time.
Best of luck buddy
They will always be there.
Just lost my chocolate lab of 13 years a couple of weeks ago, he was always there ready to go through snow sleet and rain, never complained. So condolences to Zettler!!
Thanks guys. Its not so much I need help on deciding when as I pray I will know but its been a long fight for Chunk going on two years and the last several weeks have truly been hard - primarily on Chunk. Took him to the Vet last night and we decided he had more time...Looking to carry him to a duck blind tomorrow so he can lay there and smell, hear and all the rest but not retrieve or get chilled.I wrote a tribute to him and our family relationship which seems to have touched a number of people. I had to close my door because I was crying over all the people's losses...Anyway, thank you again and here is a link to the story as the Sun Times Outdoor Dale Bowman picked it up... You got my sympathy Bob and Chunk got my prayers.

Zettler - I know your pain. I recently had to say goodbye to my Brittany Spaniel. She was my girl for 13 years and will be missed. My thoughts are with you as you cope with this decision.
Give a man a fish and feed him for a day.
Teach a man to fish and he'll sit in a boat and drink beer all day!
Sorry to hear that. I just had to have my 13 year old German Shepard put down yesterday in an emergency situation. So I for sure know what he is going through. It is very hard choice to make.

Sorry to hear about your Buddy, I have an 11 year old shepard that I know I'm going to have to make that decision someday. The way I try and look at it is he couldn't have lived a longer or better life than he is with me, and I'm sure all the rest of you feel the same about your best buddy.
I'll be thinking about you.

*Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers and kind words regarding my tribute to Chunk. It has been a true rollercoaster this past week but we made the decision and just helped him cross the bridge this morning. It was very peaceful.*We took him on a drive Tuesday and ended up at a park and we could not believe him. It was if he was five again and my son shot some video.*We were ready before then but after how he acted we just couldn't. He truly has a strong heart. A heart of a retriever!Chunk, Star and me one last time together 10/25/11 - YouTubeThank you all and I hope his story touched you and helps others faced with this most difficult decision.Bob Zettler
