I would definitely go with the 1.5 or 2 inch ball mount. I had a LC X – 38 (8 inches) on the bow mounted with a 1 inch ball and it routinely flopped down when I ran across the lake. Have upgraded to a 1.5 inch ball and it seems to be holding fine.

i have the biggest size they have for my hds10 its 2 or2 1/2 inch ball very sturdy
