Default A list to add to - What "little" things have ruined a fishing day?

I thought about starting this thread yesterday when I discovered why my borrowed motor wouldn't start last week but wasn't sure how to phrase the title.

I know there have been things people - experienced, professional and novices - have done by ommision, intentionally or unintentionally that have had negative impact on a fishing outing and thought a running post could be fun, a learning experience and even therapeutic!!!

    Here is my first one:

    * When your rope pull starter motor wont start after 30 minutes of tearing your hair out (and pulling muscles), check to make sure the hose and primer bulb are going in the right direction!!!:o

How about jumping out of the boat in pitch blackness in chest waders with a frog gig, light, and fish basket in your hands into what you thought were weeds in knee deep water only to find that the weeds were really the top branches of small trees in ten plus feet of water.

Two words, boat plug. Not fishing, duck hunting. Still had to pull the boat back out of the water, wait for a lil bit then put it back in. However, that is what teal season is for, working out the kinks.

On my first trip up in Canada with my new Lund, we were fishing into dark. All of a sudden the motor quit and could not get it started again. Had to use trolling motor in the dark on my new boat about a mile and a half. Went out next morning to find that someone (maybe even me) had put the gas line between the regular line and the "empty " line so there was no gas getting to the motor. I was relieved there wasn't something wrong with the motor but it made for a very long night.

I reckon everyone has put their boat in without the plug being in.

    haha thats good.

charged batteries all night, drive out 45 minutes, drop trollin' motor, dead, charger went out. that was sat. morning.

also drove up on a stump last summer and had to wait an hour for someone to come pull me off, and then a few weeks ago when all those storms blasted the south, came out of a thicket of trees and wind was blowin a smooth 30, gustin higher, had to nose into it to get back to the cabin, the nose of my boat kept dippin into the very large waves, 2 bilge pumps couldn't keep up, called the house and told em to get my truck and trailer and come down and get me at the ramp a mile away so i can go with the wind, lots of fun! great thread!

i have forgot to put in the plug and have forgot to put the keys in the boat before i left the house...but best one i have did so far is letting my father in law tell me oh year we can make it across that low water rip rap(in the spillway in carlyle by the swingin br) and get low unit hang up in it and it spins the boat sideways and the current is trying to flip the boat...i had to go swimming to get it undone...ended up costing me a prop and there was about 30-50 people on the bank watching all of this happen
