If everyone would follow the law, there would be no need for a conservation officer. I know the Sangchris Officer and find that he is very interested in the welfare of the lake and the people who use the facilities. Follow the laws and you won't have any problems.

    Hi,

Is there a place where you can find out where the brush piles/xmas trees have been dropped at Sangchris lake?..Seems like if they are going to drop them in the lake?..Why not give a heads up where they are....

According to the warden there, dumping of any brush or christmas trees is highly illegal, but yet,i've talked to some guys who say they dump stuff in there all the time,so i don't know what to believe.I have a friend who i fish sangchris with alot and he has a GPS with the actual lake map and all the cover. We've located nothing.

It shows pallet beds and other stuff and we've never been able to locate it.We've been right on top of alot of that stuff and have never snagged into any of it.People are not to forthcoming about giving away their honey holes.People have sure asked us where ours are and we sometimes actually tell em,but we ask,and they say no way.

I've heard there are alot of stake beds and pvc made brush in there as well, but finding any of it has been a chore for us.My buddy has some of the best equipment money can buy and we just can't seem to locate the brush,we can in other lakes, but for some reason, sangchris has us stumped. Will just have to keep huntin for it i guess.

A lot of the gps maps and the other maps are outdated.Sangchris is also know for the mysterious disappearance of brush too. We've seen guys in the past snag into brush with their anchors and pull it out of the water and toss it up on the bank.Real slick,huh..

Just curious catfish . What did the Game Warden do to make you say he's a "jerk" ? All of the wardens I have ever met always treated me with respect as I did them . I've never seen one on Sangchris but I've only be there a couple of times .

From what I know.., the Hot Maps are outdated and the structure shown has long since rotted away. The old road beds.. stumps.. drop offs still exists.
The last time a coordinated effort was made with the state biologist resulted in a bon fire of almost 600 trees. Only a couple volunteers showed up.., and a fool came by in the middle of the nite and lit the trees. Angler 73 was correct in stating that it is illegal to place anything in the lake. The law is covered in the Fish Protection section of the state law.
Sangchris can be difficult to fish unless you have spent time there. To just drop in and do well is rare. The wind blows near every day. Water Temp is usually in a state of flux depending on the power plant. The lake is low right now so most the visible structure i.e. laydowns/ lilly stems pads. are out of the water. Right now..rather than search the whole lake for some magic brush pile, find the water temp that you feel the fish will be active in and refine your search in that area. Anther hint is that you will see stumps and some small stake beds that are visible. Mark them on your map and return when the water comes up.

    Talking

Another tip may be is to use your contour map to find some creek channel ledges. These ledges are usually good places for any kind of fish including crappie. I doubt if you will find too many folks that will lead you to their "honeyhole". I try to keep mine a secret.
Almost every Conservation Officer I have ever met has been real nice and obviously love the out of doors as much as I do.

    Hi Redtick,

What's up?..I am doing good...I totally understand that you don't want to tell anyone about your secret honey hole...Me myself If I am catching fish and someone isn't?...I would tell them where I am catching them at....It is no biggie...I just want have fun out on the water and catch a few...Just like I would want any other fisherman to have a good time out on the water and catch some..I just wish the biologist would keep an updated map of where they have dropped the brush...Instead of keeping it a secret...Why drop cover?...But, not tell no one where it is located?....So, then you have to search the whole lake for brush/xmas trees...Which may or may not be in the lake?....That is just my own thoughts on the whole situation..

I agree with ya.i know the cover is in there to give the fish some habitat, and places to hide and such, but why drop it all and keep it quiet.Especially if someone has over a 100 + beds, piles, etc.in there and don't want noone to know about it.if the brush isn't a priority like i've heard one say,to catch fish, why aren't some of piles locations disclosed?I don't like to give out to many spots either, but if i have a couple of guys that i fish with who in my heart i know won't tell the whole planet, then i'll release some info. There was a time 4 years ago that i got into the big crappie there and i told one guy about it,next thing you know, there was no where to fish because every tom, dick, and harry was shoulder to shoulder in the area i was fishing. And that was from the bank. You'll have to realize jcd,if noone at all will give ya any info, don't give any out yourself.Like you said fishing is fun and relaxing and i like to see everyone having a good time, but at the same time i'm very, very competative and i enjoy a challenge. We'll find some stuff to fish,i've already told ya about a couple of holes,we'll check em out
