Question Opinion Poll : Rut or no rut?

I have heard some heated disscussions in the last few days about the Deer being in rut or not in the Piedmont area of NC. If you have an opinion about this subject please voice it here. Traditionally this week is the peak of the rut here but some guys I know are saying the does haven't got hot yet. I know the Bucks are in the game right now hot and heavy.

    Thank you,

    Kellog

Regardless of the temps, or any other conditions, doe's come into heat in the same time frame every year. This does vary with location, but it all has to do with the amount of daylight. You may see less activity if it's unseasonably warm, but when it's her time, it's her time.

It seems like here in Illinois the rut was starting to get good, then with these warmer days seems like they have lost interest.

The bucks are cruising and chasing hard here in southern Kentucky! If you wanting to shoot one of these dudes you better be quick or he's on the next farm!!!!!!

I agree Bowman. I killed a nice nine point Friday a week ago by hollering at him on a powerline. He was running and I stopped him at 230 yards and put the 7mag to work.

This is like discussing spawn--it's different everywhere. However, based on my last observation of an out-of-place buck... I'd say they're in stupid mode now.

I am not sure about the area you hunt but it is starting to wind down here in TN. I think lots of the rut activity took place earlier at night during the warm periods. The rut is not as much weather related as determined by other things. Everyone always says "It was cold this morning and it finally threw them into rut". Not really the case but the cold weather will throw them more into moving during the daytime as they are already rutting.

I just got my 1st deer ever. He was an 8 point buck. <img src="http://www.crappie.com/crappie/images/smilies/big-grin.png" border="0" alt="" title="Big Grin" smilieid="36" class="inlineimg"> I got him on the the last day, mid afternoon and he was with 4 does. I was still hunting thick areas just off of water sources. I am going out on a limb here, but i think its a second rutting phase. shouldn't the Rut have come and gone in late November?
