    Default This weekend at Talquin

I don't have much to brag about this weekend. Got there Friday afternoon and started fishing around 3:30. I had my wife with me for the first time in years...and one of us had to be retrained:D(Not saying anymore). We tried for some Bluegills for about an hour and only caught 2. We decided to troll for crappie and my wife fell in love with long lining. She just wasn't crazy about the Gators!! We caught several before dark, or she did,(I was too busy keeping her lines in the water) but all but 2 were too small. She did manage to catch one that was 1 lb 10 oz and then she was satisfied.(But she says I cant post pic) Saturday morning started out the same, until my motor started acting up...To make a long story short, I made it back in and never went back out. I will be dropping it off at the shop tomorrow!!! But overall it turned out to be a fun weekend. Thx for the help on the worms RagFly..Those are the best worms I have ever fished with....Really glad to hear all the good reports from Slabfest. Hope to be at the next one whenever it is.
    I will sneak in 1 pic...She didnt say I couldn't post this one:D

Good that she likes trolling. My wife thinks it is to much work. She said that her arms hurt to much afterwards from all the paddling.. That gal can keep it moving steady at 1.2 mph She is a natural..Too bad she won't go anymore.. I had to get a trolling motor.

We were talking about having a Harding Slabfest this fall in October that will be 2 months before Talquin. But I had spoken with rusty about maybe Blackshear this fall until all that came wanted to do it at harding. We shall see where we do it.

Sorry you have motor troubles. Maybe the seviice will be fast and cheap..

TNT......Thanks for the report. Were there a bunch of gators out yet or just getting cranked up good? Use to see a ton of them at Eufaula in the late spring. I've only seen 1 or 2 at Talquin and that was in the early fall. Rusty at the lodge has some good stories about all the gators at Talquin. Thanks again for the report.

We saw many gators this past weekend...And the majority of them were as big or bigger than the picture I took. My wife was a little leary to start with but once she started catching fish, she forgot all about them....And Rusty has alot of stories...lol:D...He really is a super nice guy.
Looking forward to the next one Smitty where ever it will be at.October gives me plenty of time to get my motor going again...lol...WRONG..It will be going in the shop tomorrow...Cant be without a boat!!!!!!

    Cool

Sorry about the boat. Hey, we had a great time. We caught 32 Saturday morning and had 68 keepers total for the weekend. I was surprised at the crappie still biting. I think we're threw until fall. We threw back over 50 small ones but still had some nice slabs! Had a problem at the dock Saturday morning with some dude who thought he owned the ramp and was refusing to move his poles (was fishing). So we just motored through his lines. All this "AFTER" we asked him nicely so we could tie our boat-up. He almost got his "a*#" thrown in the water!

Glad you got on some fish. Did you happen to hear any bluegill or cracker reports while you were there? I'm soppose to be going back 17-18. Thanks.

Not good bream fishing this weekend. Some guys had a mess but they looked real small. Some didn;t catch any. We caught one bream Friday afternoon. We were fishing for both crappie and bream so when the crappie started biting we quit bream fishing. It seems that the few guys that did catch bream were pitching the sides of Harveys creek and around Hall's landing on the river side. Are you going next weekend?
