Default Lake Eufaula (Walter F. george) last night

Got the fever bad for a nightstalk yesterday. Friend and I loaded up and pulled out at 5:30. Due to some difficulties, put the 1st line in the water at about 10 pm. Fished till 1:30 this am. Caught 2 little (and I mean little) dinks off the submerged bridge at Pataula creek. Turned around and drove home. 6+ hours driving, 3 1/2 hours fishing and didn't bring home a fish. Oh well, that's why it's called fishing and not catching. 1st time the bridge has let me down. Should have realized there was a reason we were the only boat there, lol. Still, good conservation and laughs with a good friend made the trip worthwhile.

By the way, does anyone know what the long slender bright silver fish you sometimes catch there are? Must have caught a dozen of them.

sounds like a herring, or gizzard shad. we get large gizzard shad running through our light eating small glass minnows

Thanks, kind of remind me of the ladyfish we used to catch of the coast.

BTW, the word in my 1st post should have been conversation but I guess with empty coolers we were practicing conservation also.

I've always wanted to try that sunken bridge at night. It's got a reputation for some great night time crappie fishing. Even been several articles written about it. Maybe you'll have better luck next time. Keep us posted.

crappiechappy, I also recently found out that there is an old dam and powerhouse just upstream from the bridge. Last night I found it with the help of my new 797csi. Got an awesome pic. Also got a good shot of the bridge. If I can figure out how, (technologically challenged) I'll try to post the pics later. That thing is unbelieveable. I find myself spending too much time riding and looking and not enough fishing.:D

Manta1, Eufaula used to do that to me on a regular basis, still does sometimes, evidently. Like any lake, takes time to learn where and how to fish. Lately, I've been concentrating on Lake Sinclair and so far it has shown me who's boss.
I have almost always had better luck nightstalking Eufaula than fishing it during the day. Last year a friend and I fished 11 hours straight. The 1st 9 hours we fished about 6 different places that usually produce with 4 fish to show. About dusk, we anchored on the submerged bridge and limited out in 2 hours. All over 10" with some to 14".

OK, here are the side imaging pics from last night on Lake Eufaula. I hope I did it right and the pics appear.

Apparently I did that wrong. No pic appeared. Told I was tech. challenged. Ideas, suggestions?

? I don't have much luck posting pics the 1st time I try either....usually have to resize them and get lucky ? Maybe some of the gurus here can lend a hand posting pics. You say you have a 797? You are able to download pics from the fish finder? COOL! I have a 727. I gotta read the book again to see if there is anyway I can do it or upgrade? Have you tried the mouth of Mocassin Creek? I know it used to have good structure that held fish all year. Also, up from Deer Point I used to go with some friends that fished a spot out about 50 yards from a couple floating boat docks and on the bank there were two trees that crossed each other and made an X! Had to ride around a little to find the break and structur and then anchored up and waited. Usually left after an "all nighter" with at least 2 limits. I would like to start fishing Eufaula more since it is just as far from me as just about all the other lakes I fish.

Eufaula is in my backyard too! I'm lucky to live so close to 5 great fishing lakes. I'm just an hour from eufaula, al.. I've always fished the northern end but I'll fish anywhere with my gps, map and sonar. When I was young tom mann made all of us young guns want to fish there so we headed there all the time. It has been several years for me but I love the way the lake fishes. I need a challenge because my home lake is getting to easy. lol yea right. next trip I'll get skunked for saying that.
