    Default Not Crappie but.....

Took off north to find some cooler weather and ended up in Alaska. Caught halibut, sockeye salmon, chum salmon, king salmon, rock fish, and a few yellow eye. Here are pics of a 100lb halibut, average sockeye salmon, and a 30lb king salmon. If you have ever thought of going to fish Alaska, I highly recomend it. WARNING!!!!!!, if you go, you won't want to come home and you WILL go back. Sorry the pics are sideways. I took them with my phone and can't figure out how to rotate

Hey Benny. Your absolutly right about the halibut. I like mine blackened. The only way to mess halibut up is to over cook it. The locals tell me that the rock fish are better than the halibut and the yellow eye is better than the rock fish. I'm going to find out in a couple of weeks if that is true.

Thanks for rotating the pics papasage. One of these days I'll figure out how to rotate pics off my phone.

Bet you weren't using a jig pole with four pound test line for those. Looks like a blast.

I go every summer. Leaving next month for the salmon run. Son lives in Palmer and we normally hit the Kenai river. Great times and yes hate to leave. However, want no part of the winters there. Been there, done that!

Your one "lucky" dog to be able to go every year. We caught our reds in Wolverine creek. The kings were running in the Kasilof river. Had to release 3 of the kings due to regulations. The Kenia was just getting started.

I got there late last summer but lucky for me the reds also ran late. Kings were about done. I never can time it right for the kings but maybe this year. I use to go in the spring and hit the trout lakes when they started to thaw from ice. But I really like the salmon fishing. In the future and when I completely retire, that's the plan. Alaska in the summer, Talquin in the winter!
