In these parts of Ga we do call them white perch just as in Fla they call them specks. Don't be to hard on him.......In Southeast Ga White Perch is just another name for Crappie.

I agree with birddog. Gonnawin you must be a transplant because down here in the south alot of people do call them white perch. YOU are the one that needs schooling.

Bunch of different names for crappie....papermouths, calico bass, strawberry bass, white perch, specks, Oswego bass, and Sac-a-lait. Depends on what part of the country ya'll from.

If I hear someone call a crappie a white perch makes me think of my childhood when the older generation of crappie fishermen refered to them as that and only that...and you'll probably see a faint smile appear...
Most everyone fishing in the south georgia rivers call them white perch. That's what i grew up calling them. Try to correct some of them river rats and i bet they'll set you straight.
