    Default OCONEE WEDNESDAY

Kowboy and I fished Lake Oconee yesterday. The water temperature was 57 degrees and the lake appeared to be about 18 inches below full pool. As usual Jim pushed jigs out of the front and I pulled long lines out of the back of the boat. Jim upgraded the electronics on the front of his boat so we spent some time getting familiar with the new unit. There were a lot of fish in the channel from 20 feet to the bottom. There were also a lot of fish in the woods but we tried to avoid the timber since we were targeting the channel dwellers. At the end of the day we had 18 very nice fish that averaged 12 inches. We did not keep any fish under 11 inches. Jim rigs his pushing rods with 3/4 oz of weight and a 1/16 oz jig head. He caught several fish with a white bodied chartreuse tail Charlie Brewer Slider. My long line set up varied. I had some lines with double 1/16 oz jigs and others with 1/16 oz jigs and 1/16 oz sinkers. I also experimented with 1/8 oz to 1/4 oz sinkers. The weather was pleasant but a front moved through after lunch and stirred up the wind for about an hour or two. The trolling speed was mostly in the 1 mph range. This fish in the pictures are both 14 inches.

No we did not. I did not think there was any more stain to the water than when I fished Saturday. I've not seen any reports from you lately???? Hope you are well.
