    Default HUMBLE PIE

I fished Lake Oconee yesterday and got a big slice of humble pie. I fished from 7:45 until 3:30 and caught two fish that would qualify as keepers. The details are as follows:

    1) I began fishing at mid lake in a spot that reportedly held lots of fish the day before. I have had good luck in this spot in the past but the fish were AWOL yesterday. The story was the same in all the usual spots.

    2) The morning was cloudy and a bit windy. The wind was generally out of the east which is never a good thing.

    3) The water temperature was 79.2 degrees when and where I started. However, the water temperature was slightly less further north in the Sugar Creek area.

    4) I long lined trolled as usual.

    5) The water is down at least 2 feet.

    6) I spoke with another CDC member on the lake and he was enjoying his humble pie also.

    7) The fish were scattered and when I did find a few and they were not liking what I was offering.

    8) I think the impending storm in the Atlantic might be a factor? Not sure. Something's up.

    9) I don't know if this is related but my oldest son and his family arrived at our house yesterday evening. They live on Oak Grove Island in Brunswick and had to leave for obvious reasons. They brought their dog with them. They said the dog had been hiding in the closet for 3 days! Yesterday the crappie on Lake Oconee were hiding from ME also. Critters know stuff.

    10) I'm hoping for a break in the current weather pattern. We need some rain not a hurricane.

    11) If I have a good day of fishing I get to brag about it on this forum. When the crappie have a good day they never get to post it on CDC. In all fairness I confess they out did me yesterday. Today I'm bragging on their behalf. We can learn from our bad days too.

    12) Oh, I almost forgot. The good news is I was fishing and I did not tear up any equipment.

Thanks for the report. I was going to go, but decided conditions just wasn't right...did honey do's for the Household 6 instead.

Got to build up that fishing capital for when the time is right.

Still a bad day fishing is better than a good day at work.
