This is a question for one of the Senior guys on the Ga board. I lived in Atlanta in the mid 70s and we fished Jackson in the cold winter time. I remember my buddy always stopped at one of the marinas for a warm up lunch of something they called 'Gorilla Stew".
Any of you guys remember that or the Marina that served it???

When you were bout froze and hungry the Gorilla Stew was just the ticket. They had a big cast iron stove in the store, wood burner I think, and they kept the stew in a big pot on it. Felt like a 100 degrees when you went in and smelled the stew and forgot about beng cold or fishing.

Searay do you remember what part of the lake it was on or what it was near?

No, I emailed my buddy who was with me and he doesn't remember either. He thought they made the Gorilla Stew out of unlabeled packages of meat they had in the freezer. Venison, beef and God knows what else.
My buddy lives on the Oregon coast now and I fish with him out there. He said the only thing he remembered about that trip was it was so cold he had to use needle nose pliers when he tried to pee.

Used to fish Jackson about 30yrs ago also. Never rember Berry's servivg food. Not sure how old Bear Creek is (that is across from the FFA camp) but they have a resturant. I'm pretty sure that is not the one. If I would guess it was Walker Harris or Martins like jigslinger said.

You might want to call before you go. The number for Martin's is 770-775-3892. Couldn't find a number for Berry's.

Walker Harris marina, ran by world famous Willie Allen. Had good hot dogs too.
