Since you are new, try to make the get together at Lake Talquin Nov 5th. You will meet a great group of people. As to reporting the lake, most people do except for small lakes that will not take the pressure of those who are looking for free guide info. As to the color, most of the time it is given. Some people post more info. I personally like to see pictures.

You have found the greatest site for learning to crappie fish. Attend as many slabfest that you can, free class room. Many of us have vacant seats and are happy to show what we have learned.

    See you on the water.

Alot of folks want to know the creeks you fish and in some of the lake if you name the creek you will be hard pressed after a couple good reports to even be able to see the water from the boats in those creeks afterwards. Just take a look at how many lurkers are online and you'll understand. Good info for me tells what color, how deep the water was, how deep fish were caught, and which method of fishing (spiderrigging, longlining, etc.). Oh yea...Welcome to the boards.

Hey Toon, I'm in Covington also, however, I've never caught a crappie in my life, still on the quest though, if ya want to get together and hunt'em, let me know.

Hello there Toon. Great to hear from you again my friend. If you ever are able to come back down to lake Blackshear I will be glad to carry you out or tell you where you can go and maybe catch a mess of those slab crappie. The crappie are biting now here on Blackshear. Pushing very close to trash piles and making a very slow presentation is the way to go now. I hope I can go crappie fishing tomorrow after my dad and I do some catfishing. Oh by the way the crappie I have cought recently have been about 15ft in 20ft of water.
