Default Newbie here and to warm weather crappie fishing

I'm new to the site but have viewed a few threads and saw great advice given. My question pertains to Lake Blackshear. My father is giving me my first boat after repairs are done. I'm hoping to head out either this weekend or next. My wife will be joining me and I was wondering the best chance for some nice slabs as far as location and bait/lures. My dad used to take me at night but we will only be able to fish the day time. He's also wanting to put in on the north end around Pat's fish camp. So any suggestions in that area? I'm more used to bank fishing total novice on my own boat locating good spots. Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the welcome. Yeah my dad said this next weekend would be a great time to do some bluegill fishing in the area with the moon. I just really want to get my wife in on some crappy fishing. All my experience with Blackshear has come at night on the southern end hitting dock lights. But with a five month old at home I cannot keep momma away too long. But I just want to learn the area more since my dad praises it so well. He's caught good size bass (5lb-and up) and bream but never talks about crappie. Personally aside from flathead crappie is my favorite fish to eat.

Welcome....don't know much about the north end of the lake, but have had good luck in Pecan, Cedar and Smoak creeks....also for bream try what we call "bulldog" its on the west side of the lake down toward the dam and its easy to find since it has no houses on a long stretch of bank....I think the land is owned by UGA...look for a lone boat house in a cove pretty easy to find and fish that cove and the bank north....I like using a 1/16 black beetle spin to locate the bream and then throw a cricket in amongst them.

    Good luck.
