Tell him CONGRATS on the newborn too! Not sure where ya'll like to fish for trout and reds but I plan to start hitting them in March in the Keaton Beach, FL area. There are several good creeks and flats he can get around in the canoe pretty easy that usually hold some nice reds, trout, black drum, and the rest of the usuals on the flats. Holler at me when you get ready to head down and I will tell you what I know and may even be down there. I like to hit the spanish and kings in May.

Hey everyone. Dad told me he posted here about our trip. As you can see, we found a new honey hole. It's a little strange catching crappie running up a river to spawn, but you get used to it real fast..lol. This river is no bigger than the Little river I used to fish down in Valdosta. But it runs into Lake Mathis and it seems every crappie and white bass in the lake have made their way up river this spring. I'm talking 30 miles upstream. Amazing. Of the 50 we kept yesterday there were several close to 2 pounds and a bunch over 1.5 pounds. I was glad to take the wife out, she hasn't been in a while. She had a great time. Who wouldn't with a fish on every cast? We guesstimated we caught around 180 plus fish in five hours of fishing.

Everything is great here in San Antonio. Like my pops said, I get to do enough fishing to keep me satisfied.....wait......I never get enough fishing......but you all know about the fishing addiction. I do miss the crappie fishing in GA though. It's just not the same here. East Texas has phenomenol crappie fishing, but we are a little further to the west, with less fertile lakes. Shine thanks for the offer, but we'll be fishing just south of Savannah. But I do miss the Keaton area. We have flats like that here in Texas though.

Still fish out of the canoe. Figure I will stick to that until I get a boat one day. It allows me to fish most everywhere though. I'll keep an eye on crappie.com and stop in to say hi every once in a while.

    Shine Runner,

We live down here on the GA coast in McIntosh County now and fish the local waters. Fishing has been good this past year. I hope it is as good next year. I'll file a report after Kyle comes thru and hopefully we'll have some pics to post.
