Thread: Let's Talk Pearl White

My wife used to fish with me a lot when we were in Florida. We used a lot of Hal Flys for trolling and her favorite color was a white pearl with a red head and she did real good with them. I don't know how they would do in this muddy water we are having right now.

A couple of years ago during the fall my partner and i found a huge tree in 16ft while the lake was down. It was loaded with slab crappie and the only bait they would hit was a pearl tube jig. We fished this tree all way thru the winter with the same results. The next year they would only hit wally world color hot grub. Havent done well on that tree in years but it was a great spot in the fall. What I learned from this is have lots and lots of different colors.

Pearl or glow white and use "spike it" chart or orange on the tail works pretty good in heavy stain

i use alot of pearls in my hand tied jigs i jus know it works

I've never been a big fan of white baits I do remember pulling pearl white sassy shads a time or two but no great success.Let me know how it works out though.

I'm with you on white baits, Hightower.
I've got pearl white in my tackle box, and I try 'em every once in a while, but I ain't caught much with them. Guess it depends on how clear the water is.

I've had very good success with whites, but it has mostly been on lake blackshear...Everywhere else, it seems to be a striper magnet, which is also a success when the crappie just want to be stubborn :D Like DI said, Have every color in your tackle box...and variations of white are a must
