Thread: Welcome new members

Just wanted to say Hello. From Arkansas (eastern side) and look forward to being here.

O.K., My first post.....newbie here, but not new to ing. Saw a pic of a feller named Roy on this site and saw his replica of his 17" crappie. I let this 17 1/2" go after I took a few photos cause I want a pond full of these in a few years. Kept a couple of 15's & 16's for some much desired fillets for the wife. I stocked a neighbors pond 12 years ago from a lake near Canton, TX. and this has to be the results of that stocking. Private ponds are great for growing your own. I have found that pond to be full of crappie of all sizes and feel it needs some thinning out. I stocked it with channel cats from my personal pond for their personal fishing and started feeding them floating fish food so I could tie flies to look like fish food so I could catch cats with my 3wt fly rod............it is a battle when you catch a 3 to 5 lb. channel cat on a fly rod. This has taught me how to fight the fight to land my fish. I have enjoyed reading many posts here, and enjoy the humor, info and insights. If anyone has a suggestion for a place here in Texas to have a replica made of a crappie, I would be interested to know about them. I'm not one for mounting much of what I shoot or catch, but this crappie is my personal best and I would like to see a replica on my fireplace mantle. At 69, I enjoy reminders once in a while. Oh! I've had my share of boats of all kinds, but now I'm just a kayak fisherman! The sandies are up in the creeks on Eagle Mountain Lake. Crappie are shallow and love "Bobby Garland's Electric Chicken"! I enjoy a good laugh and am apt to
