Welcome to the obsession. You'll find nothing beats the fight of even the smallest fish on the 'long rod'!
Hey everyone,
After reading through this forum I really wanted to try fly fishing. I went out and purchased a pretty inexpensive Crystal River 6/7 wt combo. It took me a while to get everything spooled and assembled, but it was worth it.
My casts of course still need work but im having so much fun! Im glad I ignored all my friends who discouraged me from this "impossible" form of fishing.

I fly fish for everything expect walleyes, both fresh & saltwater. You will find that if you stay at it you will catch more fish than any other method. I carry a hundred dollar bill in my wallet and will challenge anyone on a any lake of their choosing that I will outfish them. While the least expensive equip't will provide fun, to insure better casting etc named rods (sage, loomis, orvis etc) will improve your casting. Fly fishing improvement will take alot of learning. Read everything you can.
Welcome to fly fishing. It's a great sport and very rewarding. Good pic of you catch .
