We was wonderin !
Yep, sounds like rough conditions for sure. 4th is better'n 5th, out of 13, that's respectable !
Well it was not the best of tournament weekends! 20 mph plus winds made it near impossible to troll on East Lake. 13 teams gave it there best shot with only 3 teams catching the limit of 7 fish. Trust me when I say these are some of the best speck fisherman around. The crappie got the best of everyone this weekend. I was amazed!!! In first place was George Parker out of West Palm Beach and his partner Tim, They Slow trolled in about 11 to 13 feet of water at around 1 mile an hour dragging a log chain to slow them down. Trying to keep the rods from bouncing over 3 feet was the major challange. The fish wanted a steady, slow presentation. The fish was on the bottom of the lake and in post spawn conditions. They weighed in around 8 1/2 pounds. Team Boggs(thats me) finished in 4th place catching only 5 fish weighing in at 5.30 lbs. sad! sad! sad! Oh well! On to next month, Florida Crappie Association is at Lake Monroe on April 19. Then the Crappie USA Regional is on lake Monroe the 26 and 27. So I will be spending alot of time on the St. John's and Lake Monroe over the next Month. I can only hope the fishing improves for my Dad and I. Tight Lines everyone and remember to keep your Bait Wet!
