contrived using two different C.com anglers, two different time-slots, two different species, same ramp, two ecosystems, my rig. First up was just after daybreak w/Don(Pontoon Pappy) to try Lake Monroe's recent
SLOW SPECK bite. Three hours of long-lining, four different areas, very nice conditions, yielded 3 throwback specks, 1 gar, and a smallish/keeper striper. Disappointingly dropping him back @ramp @ 1030(he had business)
, I still had time(3.5 hrs) before next meetup. Decided to try my method of choice(ultralight, jig casting). Had fun, more productive with one bass, 5 specks. Lost a nice 14" 'r @the net, but managed a Fat 13' 'r
for the earlier striper's chilled companionship(cooler). Met companion #2 Jim(SlimJim) @2 pm for a
STRIPER SJ river-experience. Did a bunch of Side imaging for schooling
Shad and 4' cast-netting(Jim) yielded his repeated
NADA response. Also tried a bunch of tentative, theoretical spots(visual chart-sightings of shad/large blips) with the dreaded SJ announced
NADA result. After reaching SJ's Spot o' Choice, he launched 3 baited dead-baits, rod holder positioned. I maintained my varied, artificial-only preference, with only one chunky 10" speck that accomodated. Now, SJ showed more results with his four-rod presentation(1 artificial casting) with 2 nice keeper
STRIPERS , 4 small kittens, and the surprise catch a 13"[COLOR="#0000FF"]
CROAKER!...at first I thought it was a small
REDFISH but after netting easily saw the identity. Still, quite the surprise!
Stingy
PART II yielded TWO chilled
STRIPERS, 1 croaker, and yes, I kept that chunky 10" for a sammich!
With all tghe break-in hours done on the new 70 SUZI, I finally had the chance to see what my rig could do = 34.5 mph with a stock 15"/3-blade aluminum! We was
SCOOTIN'!!. Lastly, but definitely not leastly, for those of the lucky ones, SJ had TWO of Paula's
Blueberry muffins with my name on 'em.
Good company, LONG day, fun times fulfilling dreams!
Thanks for readin', ridin', reelin' along guys...'til next time-
