Nice fish. But there's times, especially in the summer in Florida, when they are scattered and picking up one here, one there is just a fact of life.

New member here from Minnesota that just got a little fishing rig registered in FL. My in-laws are in DeLand and my maiden voyage was trying Dias for a couple hours. Got a healthy 13” fish on a minnow in 14 fow about 7 feet under a float within 10 minutes. Had to drift fish as I didn’t have time to charge my trolling battery and didn’t have any more luck before the heat chased me off. I’ll need to learn some of the FL techniques as I’m used to single pole regulation of Minnesota. Nice lake and I’ll try it again when I’m in FL late September.

Thanks Tom. I figured they'd be suspended in deeper water and spread out. I had a terrible spring/summer to date in MN so I was happy with the potential. I'll try some multiple line trolling next go round. Woodruff, Beresford and Monroe will also be in play.

You're on the right track. If you run the rods out the side, longer rods help. I use 6, 9, and 12' and rod holders that have sides and the rod can't be twisted when a catfish or bass hits. They aren't created equal. I use the Hi-Tek Extreme model and am very satisfied. A couple out the back and 2 or 3 out each side and you'll look like a seasoned pro. Welcome from Debary, looking forward to your future posts.

Beautiful fish.
Thank you Kindly for the report.
Beautiful Lake, but land-locked....the St. John's area your in has awesome fisheries, lakes along river included...
crappie down !
Welcome and nice fish. I like to fish Monroe a lot. If you want to teem up some time, let me know.
another good day at the office !
My advice would be to first make your inlaws happy. find a job in Florida. lol
I have fond memories of Dias. It was a long drive from Ocala where I once lived so I didn't go there a lot but when I did make the drive, it was worth it. Follow Skeet's advice you'll never go wrong. One slab is good in the heat. Nice catch!
Nice fish. A 13" Crappie is a good one, any time and any where. Look forward to seeing on the water. Come on down for our SlabFest in October.
