Can't believe we don't have bears in the green swamp yet.

I dont understand the whole bear clusterduck at all. Ocala/Wekiva River Basin was overrun with bears so they were venturing out and getting in trouble. State Trappers would catch them and bring em back to Ocala. They leave again and get caught again and done. Green Swamp, Everglades, Matanzas and a whole pile of other ares could have held some population. Not against the hunts if done correctly, but start moving some around instead of just trying to cram them back in a full area. Also destroying all the natural food by burning every 3-5 years instead of the prescribed 7. Work with a guy who helps with all the bear studies and amazing to hear how badly managed our state lands are. 1 local area the land manager is from a pulpwood forestry company and hates any hardwood, so he is clearing all hardwood and replacing with pines, another local area the manager is a Scrub Jay nut so he is managing for Scrub Jay. Meanwhile the oaks, palmetto's and any other natural food source is depleted.

I have tried ammoia, bleach, pine sol, listerine all to no avail when they come through. Right now I have my can chained to a power pole and a chain through the handles and around the lifting handle to keep them out. They cant get in but they sure do jump up and down on it and make it so tight I can barely get the chain off around the pole. I know FWC is watching the area, had a flyer on my door a few weeks back about keeping bears out of garbage. Wonder if they saw my can all chained up. Figure I best do everything possible to kepep em out. Dont want to be on the recieving end of a forcement call for feeding them.

Well that's them southern Orange City bears they don't know how to behave. Was having bear trouble every Wednesday night (the night before garbage pickup)Did you ever try an electric fencer. The first time I had bear trouble I put a wire with tinfoil around the can. Put some peanut butter on the tinfoil and fired up the fencer. I would have loved to have been there to see the bear lick the pb. They went away for a long time after that, just got tired of having to turn off the fencer every time I put out the trash.......................only forgot one time...................................

Never tried to electrofy my can. I sit right on the ATT easement that crosses OC so they come through constantly.

I've only had to pick up my trash twice, one of those last week with some smoked chicken remains inside. They be likin smoked yard bird. Won't be long I'll be on pavement anyway. I got a bear can for my daughter for real cheap. All those acres they are surrounded by and they've never been bothered. I guess it's not if but when they'll come to visit.
