Should you not have a boat, there's several lakes that can be fished from the bank. Downtown Orlando has a few spots, Lake Ivanhoe is one. Lake Underhill east of town is another. You said you worked in Tampa some, that's a good thing. As with buying a house, be aware of where you fish. Not all the wildlife has 4 legs and you need to be careful of all of them. I hope it all works for you and you settle in without issue, this can be a real good place to live. The waterways at Disney were stocked after being built and fishing was forbidden for 8 years after. Maybe some of your contacts can help you scratch the itch around the Mouse' house.

I would fish here a while and decide what your going to fish for before you pony up for a new boat. Don't know where all you have lived and fished, there is many different games in Florida and many boats cross to other styles of fishing some you just cant cross. Sight fishing flats pretty much requires a technical poling skiff and fishing bluewater takes a large CC. Bay boats are great but I cant get into the true skinny and wont go over 15 miles out and prefer to stay within 10. If you never want to get salty then no need for either. Fishing around Crystal River and Ozello you would want a very hardy metal hull like a Sea Ark with ice runners. Take your time when you get here and hit us up for a ride. Gas and bait will get you fishing quite often.

Again good advice Huntslabs. I don't see myself going off shore so I would look for something for both the flats and smaller freshwater lakes. Technical poling skiffs are a little too pricey for me. I have thought about a skimmer skiff.

I think that in the short term I will get my little pond boat down to Florida. It's one of those Bass Baby's without a trolling motor and a 3hp out board. It should go most places a kayak would.

    Thanks again for the tips!

There is expensive and ridiculous priced technical poling skiffs for sure, but there is also many great builders that will not kill you. Ankona and Salt Marsh for instance, great boats and great service if needed, but most dont ever go back. That lil boat will get you many great places around here. A metal boat is a great alternative and some will say you cant fish em for hull slap, some cases thats true but not the rule. Ran a G3 1448LW for years and had no problem catching fish and could go back to that boat tomorrow if needed and still catch fish. Do not get caught up in the flashy latest craze. That is why i am saying take your time picking a boat.

Working for Disney You should look in Celebration for a rental. They have several lakes/ponds that my son fishes from shore and catches plenty of bass.

Plenty of bank fishing here in Kissimmee. Kissimmee Lake front has some good spots near the Big Toho marina, as does St. Cloud lakefront, just off the beach in St. Cloud is oe of the deepest holes in the lake, Just walk out to the flag pole sit on a rock and enjoy. St. Cloud Canal at the locks right now is a hot spot. Canoe Creek is another good one, got my biggest cat there bank fishing. Shingle Creek is OK out near the lake, but cant get there on foot. Lived here my whole life, Here is a list with addresses that will get you to some good spots.

Big Toho Marina –is good)(Fish off the piers, the one opposite of the marinia 69 Lakeview Dr, Kissimmee, FL 34741
Toho fishing pier (Fish next to the bridge) 586 Neptune Road, Kissimmee, FL 34744
St. Cloud Canal Lock (Best when water is flowing, Fish the south side) 1384 East Lakeshore Boulevard, Kissimmee, FL 34744
St. Cloud Canal Partin Park (Several good spots, Park on the east side, go down under the Turnpike) 2829 Neptune Road, Kissimmee, FL 34744
St. Cloud Lakefront (out from the beach) 1104 Lakeshore Boulevard, Saint Cloud, FL 34769
Canoe Creek (Big cats, Good crappie at times from the bank) 5800 North Canoe Creek Road, Kenansville, FL 34739
Shingle Creek (Rail Road construction right now so no fishing) 4298 Old Tampa Highway, Kissimmee, FL 34746
Shingle Creek 17-92 (Have to park off the shoulder, down an embankment, been years since I have been fishing here) 2698 Florida 600, Kissimmee, FL 34746
Shingle Creek Canoe/Kayak launch (Not sure if bank fishing is allowed, Use to be a marina that had a great spot for cats) 3439 Marsh Road, Kissimmee, FL 34746
Alligator Lake canal (Have heard of good cats here) 6178 East Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway, Saint Cloud, FL 34771
Moss Park (several areas for shore fishing) 11678 Moss Park Road, Orlando, FL 32832

Might even catch me on a weekend when my front seat is empty.
