Default Winter Park Chain of Lakes

Has anyone ever Spec fished on the Winter Park Chain. I will be working more in Orlando and just bought a condo in the area.
Don't see many fishing reports for the chain.

    Thanks

Hopefully your buying in Winter Park if your wanting to fish those lakes. Non residents of Winter Park pay dearly to launch there. But I bet there is Specks in em.

Not cheap to fish on the chain, resident add h.p. + length of boat x $.50 for yearly permit, nonresident $.75. Although you can get a daily permit for $6.00.
Talked to some fellows there and they say it is full of crappie. Good luck, let us know how you do.

I have spent many days on that chain, and yes, it has a good population. It's been a lot of years since I spent any time there, and a lot of the time I spent om Virginia and Osceola and Mizell. Maitland has a lot of pleasure boat traffic so plan our day to finish early once it begins. You will not regret spending the bucks to learn those lakes, especially if they are close to you. The houses around the lakes are a special treat in themselves. With the techniques we know today I truly feel that many great days could be spent there. Please keep us posted as this goes forward. Soon as I get some tires on my trailer, a few trips down there are in my future.

Buddy of mine at work fishes them almost every Saturday morning for bass. Never complains about boat traffic. Does bring back some pretty spectacular photos of scenery from the area close to the college. He makes it a point to be in that area mid day. So there could well be a lot of traffic but is preoccupied with the scenery. He does very well bass fishing and the fish pics show fat healthy fish so there must be a good food chain.

The big lake Maitland was the one that I referred to about the boat traffic. I was also fishing from small boats and didn't have the ability to get a move on if I had to.
