    Default Tradition with a twist.

For a lot of years I have gotten out from under the wife's feet on Thanksgiving morning by going hunting or fishing come daybreak and back in time to peel potatoes. As the years have passed and the kids now have families of their own, the preparation is now a shadow of it's former self. That hasn't changed my habits for the early part of the day when I go and give thanks for all we are given in the outdoors. Always so quiet and peaceful. This year will be a special morning for me in more ways than usual as I'll have company on my trip. I'll be putting in to fish Lake Monroe at the usual place and the A number1 head gewber himself will be in the back of the boat. For a long time I have tried to put together a trip with Slab, and it has finally come together. He and I both think it would be great if we could have some company from the folks we usually fish with. I'm sure there will plenty of room at the ramp and plenty of fish in the lake. So the invite is for everyone to show if you can for as long as you can. What better day to spend in fellowship with each other. So who's in???????

My Thanksgiving tradition has always been to get out of everyone's hair for the whole week of Thanksgiving, going off to deer camp in the North woods of Wisconsin or Michigan!

But that tradition has died now that I'm a warm weather Floridian geezer. That's partly why I have that decal on the back of my truck that says "I'd rather be Crappie Fishing". Now you know what the whole decal was supposed to say but was too long: I'd rather be Crappie Fishing than freezing my buttocks off in a tree stand hunting deer! Although I do miss those days (at least I got pictures I can look at while in the warmth of my house, lol).

I think we now have a new Thanksgiving tradition! Should be a great trip Skeet, can't wait.

Irv's bunkhouse, deer camp 2001! North woods of Wisconsin. Memories, sorry for the sidetrack skeet! The second from the right is Tomtom's dad.
