All I can say is, BEAUTIFUL!!!
It's a known fact that a person should never take a knife to a gunfight, but unfortunately some of us seem to enjoy the challenge of the fight. Yesterday, while enjoying my Saltwater outing out of Crystal River, armed with some Crappie outfits included(Wally Marshall 5'6" Signature rod with Penn Battle 2000/Nanofil 10/.007, an unexpected guest arrived. Fishing solo w/homemade 3/16 oz. jig and a MirroLure 'lil John(bourbon colored) on a spot that has yielded mostly trout and sea bass over the years, the bite and the battle was ON!!...12 - 15 minutes of tug-o-war, back-reeling and prayer, I was able to slip the net under a 35", 12 lb 14 oz. behemoth Snook. Too bad it was 2 " too big for the Gulf's 33" limit and also 4 weeks too late as Snook season ended on April 30th, but was released to spawn and hopefully bring back some friends to the September 1st season opener. Also got spotted trout(2 keepers), sea bass, ladyfish, one pompano and a throwback gag grouper. Fishing a rock hump in 8 fow -7 miles offshore.
If you decide to take your favorite knife to a gunfight, just make sure to hone the blade and your skills, or you may get your jaw busted.
