Default Specs don't bite this time of year! hmmmmm

Guy at the ramp saw my rods and said, Specs don't bite this time of year in Florida.

I said well, as long as I'm here, going to give it a try.

Only had two hours to fish, but these guys bit????

They bite year round, Just some guys think they stay in the same place. You have to find them but Dad proved that no matter the time of year a limit can be had!

Another great report !! Especially for a 2 hour trip, the fish definitely don't leave the lake for summer - just might be harder to find or have to force them to bite.
The finest gift you can give to any fisherman is to put a good fish back, and who knows if the fish that you caught isn't someone else's gift to you?"

    Hey Goosehunter,

We have some very good friends who live at Colony Cove in Ellington. Sorry, don't know Lake Hancock. Only places I could find near Ellington was Lake Manatee, in the lake Manatee State park and Evers Reservoir, also called Ward Lake. Suppose to have Crappie in both, I have not fished either, but I think there are gas motor restrictions on both.

    Good luck,

If you are talking about lake Hancock between Lakeland and Bartow the ramp is dirt ramp at Winterlake Rd. and Saddle creek. Leave vehicle at your own risk. Parking area is very small. Lake is shallow with plenty of Gators and Nile Perch. Don't know about Speckled Perch.
