    Default Fun stuff on Okee.

    Hi all...

Its a ton of fun catching crappy while long lining, or tight lining minnows.... but theres something really special when you get to simply put one rod in your hand and dabble around shallow grass and feel that teltale THUMP!!!!!..... thats what I got to do on the north end of lake O Sat. Total of 17 for the morning .....all solid 12 in. or better fish.....I love it
Rinse out the dang minner bucket:D

We are headed to Okeechobee April 1st. What pattern do you guys think will be best then? Most of my group fish for Bream and Oscars(in the glades) but I wanted to target the Crappie at least for a couple of days. I thought about tight lining in the rim canal of jigging in the pads around the edge of the lake inside the canal,
Any suggestion. We stay at Roland Martin Marina in Clewiston so something in that area would be what we are looking for.
Mark 1:17 ...I will make you fishers of men

Plenty of grass islands in that area to jig around.

Went out yesterday with the wind blowing a steady thirty, water muddied and stained. Figured they would be deep considering conditions. Fished for a couple hours and couldn't buy a bite. Fished around pads in 10' of water about two feet deep nothing. Hard to control boat with that much wind so I changed up strategies, started fishing next to shore in about two feet of water and cork set about 8". Fished around the floating grass mats that had been broken apart because of conditions and had been pushed up next to bull rushes . Caught six with one nice one and by that time it was 2:30. Will try to put him in the frabill for a picture like the one I saw on the site the other day. Hopefully will be able to go again this week.

    Default Jigging

Is the crappie fishing mostly over on Okee?
Fish probably all moved out of shallows?
