Crescent lake would be a little drive but worth the trip. Fish run a little bigger down that way. On 17 south of Palatka.
Hi, I have a Gheenoe and I was hoping there was someone near Jax Florida who might want to be a mentor to an older guy.... I'm just someone who floats minnows once in a while. I'm semi retired and looking to learn more about crappie fishing. I live near Macclenny Florida so Jacksonville , Lake city or Gainesville would be an easy drive.... Thanks all.

Creativity is just intelligence fooling around
Crescent is a big pond for a Gheenoe. Even the Super 16 and Lowtide 25 would be marginal. Lake gets nasty quick. Dunns creek or the river might be better. There is a few visit the site from Jacksonville area, hopefully one of them will be along shortly. Good luck up there.
Oh and dont take that as a slant on Gheenoe. Love their boats especially the LT25. Just not on big water, bout the same for my Tracker. But plenty fishing available.
Black Creek near Green Cove Springs would be a good place with a Gheeno.
fishing813 is on the blink for a short while but you can PM him, he will respond when he is able. He can give you some pointers as to rigging a Ghneenoe for trolling. He made some stuff to clamp on the gunwales to attach rodholders to. Just a thought.
Wear your PFD!!!!!
This is the day the Lord hath made, rejoice and be glad in it.

Any of the Gainesville/Hawthorne area lakes would be accessible and are good lakes. Lochloosa, Newnans, Sante Fe and Orange.

Julington Creek and Durbin Creek in Jacksonville would be good in a Ghneenoe and there's a ramp with a dock at Clark's Fish Camp right where they come together. It's not an actual fish camp but a restaurant. But if you google Clark's Fish Camp you can get directions. Both creeks get narrow upstream with lots of good holes. Plus you can get out if the wind that way when it picks up.
I was in a Water Bug (basically a square stern canoe similar to a Ghneenoe) some years back on Dunns Creek. I was uncomfortable the entire time because of the wakes generated by the boats motoring by. That's when I went to a bigger rig. Like huntinslabs said, our shallow Florida lakes can turn upside down quick with just a little wind. Good luck.
