Cranks - try every now & then, not too much luck with specks anyway, but have caught some huge gar like that
Do any of you guys ever use crank baits or planer boards?

The finest gift you can give to any fisherman is to put a good fish back, and who knows if the fish that you caught isn't someone else's gift to you?"

Ginny, they seem to work much better on White crappie because the school more and out in open water. It is a great technique for finding fish.

We troll for crappie out in open water but the lakes are shallow.... 8-10 feet usually. I'm wondering if we already troll for them and do pretty good, wouldn't it work for just getting the lines out farther from the boat with a planer while trolling? Keep the lines farther apart and cover more area?
