Nice to have you on the crappie board. Hope we can get you to drive up to the freshwater region someday. I guess you're gonna enjoy learning about the saltwater as there seems to be a few more variables. Good Luck!
Long time member from Mo.,finally made the move down here to Naples.Naw,I ain't one of the rich snowbirds, but got lucky and am renting a cheap room for now just 1.5 miles from the beach.Seems like the only fresh water around here is on a golf course or lake Trafford, which is a long drive.
Seems like most of ya'll are up in the central region,so won't have a chance to meet ya'll for a while, but hope to make a gathering eventually.
Trying to figure out the saltwater scene...kinda fun to have something new to learn.Been doing a lot of research on the net and not asking a bunch of questions that start out with"What is the best...(fill in the blank)" as there is not best, just the right lure/technique for the right condition.
Anyway,I'll pop in from time to time and try not to wear black socks with sandels on the beach

You say that like it's a bad thing. You're rubbin elbows with some good folks down there. Good tackle shop in Punta Gorda that may help you shorten the learning curve. You could do lots worse that walking the beach and casting bucktail jigs. Snook like em if you get the right ones.

Welcome to Florida
Try Imoglee (not sure of the spelling but close enough.) Crappie should be in the pads right now. Did real good about 20 years ago, but one of the best days I had at that time. Also, Ochacobee. Don't pass it up.
Welcome to FL. Come to the slabfest, you will meet some great people and they will share info.

to Florida, Cook...Pretty good bunch of folks on here...They even let me fish with them once in a while
Welcome!! Check out microskiff, customgheenoe and inshore fishing forums for some down to earth info on the brine.
Ya'll seem like a good bunch of crackers...not many of the state boards list people viewing at 4 a.m.
The Mo. board is pretty active, met a lot of good folks there also.We also had informal turneys and get togethers...kinda like a slabfest I guess.Been fishing vanderbilt beach, wiggins, and lovers key if anyone is familiar wjth the area.
Have taken the grandkids to lake trafford plenty of times..tough to get crappie from the bank without a boat, and the gators don't take kindly to wade fishing. We catch the brown bullheads, which give a good fight ,and occasionally grinnel(dogfish/bowfin)up to 10 # which are great fighters and sometimes acrobatic with 3 or 4 jumps.
