during the lake crescent slabfest, we had as guests, the state biology team in to determine the age of our fish. Very interesting how they disect their ear canal to find a little bone that has rings, like the trunk of a tree that tells the fish age. Thought i would have a lttle fun for a couple days with the ones that were not at crescent to figure out what the heck i was describing as my catch as above as to age. Below is the chart the biologists made for us as they dissected our fish(they would never hear again by the way, as they cut their ears out! Lol

I feel so bad, i never dawned on me that was age of fish you caught at
Crescent. New ahead of time the people were comming but had no idea what all
they were going to get into and tell people about...............

Really was good to know and show fellow fisherman how things are done and what
these people have in mind for present and future of our favorite sport to protect
and advance it for future generations............

    Thanks again Linda.
Duh, must be my age thinking...
i do have 8 great grand children, 13 grandchildren - they sure can dream up
enough things to keep life interesting.

If you study the chart carefully, it looks like the 10 1/2 in fish to 12 in fish are kinda where they might be, but take a look at the rest like the 12 3/4 and 13 inch fish, then the 14 inch-----------14 vs 14 3/4 ???? and the 14 3/4 vs the 12 3/4??? somebody got stunted or ate mighty fish kibble one of the two?

Picture does not show entire breakdown or i am missing something.
What based on what you saw was the average age and lenght of fish
in our state or more in this lake.

Example: 10 in. fish is approx 3 yrs
    11 in 4 yrs
    12 in 4 -5 yrs
    13 in
    14 in
    15 in
    16 in yrs

Just curious if they were able to give you an average age of fish caught

    Thanks

According to the chart, the 3 year old crappie was the most caught on that particular day at Lake Crescent.
