Question NEW TROLLING MOTOR at bps

Hey i saw a new "Prowler" trolling motor advertised by in a bps flier this week. 55lb thrust 12 volt bow mount, variable speed $299. the mount is the traditional bow mount. I have a MK PD V2 and i hate the mount. It sticks out off the front of the boat, and deploying the motor is tuff!! I may try this new motor, does anybody know anything about them

Don't know much, but guess it either mfg by Motor Guide for BPS (due to the stainless shaft) or BPS contracted it to be made by 10 year old Chinese kids.

I'm guessing the Prowler would be of lesser quality than the MG or MK brands. Just a feeling though.

Might want to consider an upgrade to the Terrova. I understand they're much easier to stow.

Were going to Memphis in the am to pick up one. Will be there when the doors open. So I guess we will know what it is tomorrow evening. The guy I fish sardis with needs a new one. And were going to go see this one.

One other thought....what would you do if you needed a new part? Say the steering cable breaks, or a switch goes bad. I know they have spare props, but what about a new shaft, bearin or pin or nut?

I'd have to pass. To each his own though.

It looked good. Just a Minn Kota with a different name on it to me. I was the first one to get one of them in Memphis this am. LOL
Buddy of mine got it to replace his 32" Shaft Motor Guide. We will sure know how well it does in a few weeks.
I got to see the New Minn Kota Kota Fortrex foot controled one also. Man its nice. I may get one of them to swap out on the lund when fishing standing timber at Sardis.

    Default Prowler

I bought a prowler 30# 3 or so years ago for $69 at this same sale. I thought what the heck, I will use it is salt and freash water and when it goes bad, I have not lost much. Well folks it is still ticking good as new. I was really looking at this 55# one but my 30# does just fine and I do not need the extra power. (I also have a 30# foot control minn kota that is a living antique that keeps on ticking) It has never been is salt water. I might also add my fresh water is brackish. I would go for it.
