Yes, but... it's the 2006 version of the maps, so not as many lakes are
on it, not as many in 1' contour lines as the newer cards.

I've asked them (h'bird) if maybe someday we could send our NVB units back in
and for a fee have newer mapping loaded. I don't see what the problem would be,
they could make some $, Navionics could get their cut, etc.

But they told me it wasn't in the plans at this time.
So I'm just using a newer card in mine.

I believe if you just buy the basic unit and add the map card, you can send the map card back to Nav. for as a trade in for current maps when you get ready. That's why I didn't bundle because I knew the maps were three years out of date. I could forsee having the problem JWhite has know.

The only benefit to having the maps pre loaded is that you can stick a card in and record at the same time your maps are in the unit. Most units only have one slot so you can't record and have maps installed together.

Two items --First is if you are now buying DO NOT GET the 797 as it has only one card slot, move into 2009 model same price at some places- get a 798 with 2 slots, bigger screen & much better pict Quality, and don't get bundle so U can buy a Nav. card for your area as JWhite says, Cabelas has now started putting the Nav. cards on sale & Nav has a $50.00 off Coupon for the 149.00 card, check Cabelas web site, plus $20.00 or $10.00 off orders before 12/23 on web. By end of year Cabelas will have all Nav cards on sale. 997 & 1197 have always have 2 card slots, very very handy to have, 797 is now paper wt. material........

When you guys upgrade your nav cards, just donate me the old ones. Lost all my money in the stock market.

Prob why none of new stuff is listed on the HB web page too. Seems a little "scheme" to me. Passing off the old stuff first. Sure wouldn't want them to loose any money now would we.

That new stuff will show up on HB web page as soon as the dump a certain amount of the old stuff. Taking bets here.

501R0D go to the threeriversmarine site posted below many of us here got our units (me997) from these fine folks, great price & service & no problems. Women in charge will quote U a price & then tell u it will be about $20-$25 for ship, but no sales TAX as U are out of state. Yes there are some places cheaper from time to time but I believe 3 rivers is hard to beat for good price & honest talk. No I don't get nothing, but I do believe in recommending folks who do right by me. If nothing else you will get a nice price comparison on 798 as to what your local dealer was charging-I bet he is $100.00 hi........
