I have mind set up this way and it works good. Just remember to leave enough wire so the motor can turn freely. 180 degree both ways.

Good idea. Thank for the post.
I did the same thing years ago but I ran the cable though a 1/2" flexible conduit and tied the bottom and top with radiator clamps to the shaft in case I hung it up. I ran the flex through the deployment handle also. I left plenty of slack so the motor would turn 360 degrees.
I think the mistake a lot of us make is thinking the state-appointed shrink is our friend.minnowtime LIKED above post
Hi guys. Does the cable actually hang freely - in front of the shaft, and from what I
can tell, the release latch, on the newer models needs a hole drilled big enough for the
transducer to slide thu... is that correct?
