why not use a in line dc filter,,that should take out all harmonics and allow the electronics to function properly????just a thought
That's a little out of date, but gives you a basic understanding of the industry. Exide is either now making or will soon be making Diehard. Johnson Controls bought much of the Delco battery business from Delphi about a year ago. Environmental issues drive up the cost of operating a plant, which is pushing consolidation in the industry.Originally Posted by Cane Pole
Many times people claim that companies make a cheaper version of their product for Walmart or stores like them, but the fact is, it would cost more to establish a second manufacturing line, so most of the time they are exactly the same battery with a different color case and label. The only real difference among batteries of the same type is how they are physically constructed to hold the plates in position. If this fails due to rough conditions or overcharging, then you get a bad battery.
There's a Walmart everywhere, so you can always get warranty service, even on Sundays and holidays and late at night. That's the best feature you can get on a battery.

Could this "battery builder" stuff, be similar to the Johnson/Evinrude deal (same motor/same plant ... different color/decals) or the (former) Merc/Yammy dealings (each motor having parts made by the other company) :p
But, my Stowaway batteries say GNB Technologies (based in Minn). Whoa ... newsflash : http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpag...56C0A9669C8B63 (seems Exide has just purchased GNB)
Also got a eye opening bit of info, when looking up some of these battery mfg's : 95% of lead acid batteries are "recycled" (lead & plastic) back into "new" ones !!

I've not looked to see where they're made, but all the batteries that come to my store come off a truck marked Johnson Controls. For what it's worth. I do maint. and Assembly about 20 hrs, a week at a Wal-Mart near me.Originally Posted by crappiepappy

Walmart and other retailers change manufacturers every few years. The only way to find out is to see them in the store. The only downside to buying at Walmart is that in the offseason the batteries tend to sit on the shelf a while.
Does this mean Exide is making batteries for Johnson Controls? Or is Exide now owned by Johnson Controls?Originally Posted by wannabe fisherman
