    Default Garmin set-up

I have a pair of garmin echomaps. I have a 20 ft. Ethernet cable to pair them. I will be using a PS22-TR also. My question is do I need a type of splitter? Any parts suggestions?

What echomap are you using? You're probably going to need the gms 10 network expander.

If it's the 73 and 93 series, I don't think you can. They only have a single network port. You can hook one to the other, or your ps 22 to one. The only other way would be to hook your ps22 to a port expander and I'm not sure that will work. I'll try to find out.

If your 7" is an echomap plus unit it should work although I'm not familiar with the ps22. But you should be able to network them all with a port expander. You can use a cheap unmanaged switch that uses a 12v power supply. I've been using this one for about a year and a half without issue. It's not water proof so it's mounted under the console where it can't get wet.

According to the gurus on BBC, yes you can. You will need the gms10 network port expander. Hope this helps.

I wouldn't skimp on the network box unless you have an absolutely bone dry storage which does not exist on my boat! Just my 0.02!

Ok I think I got all thus lined out. But the connection on the PS22 has the garmin twist ring and no push clip. Can I cut the termination from the factory and put a new cat6 plug on it. I'm pretty sure the answer is yes. But I wanted to be sure.

Garmin support said it is as simple as a cut and rethread..... it definitely voids any warranty was the next thing he said. Stay tuned as I cut a 1000$ cable.
