Just a personal opinion but once I started using the remote I disconnected the foot pedal and stored it.

I'm considering purchasing a Rhodan trolling motor and have concerns not having a foot controlled pedal and just using the fob for controlling the boat along a stretch of shore/weed beds or through stumps/trees. All my fishing is fresh water lakes.
What is your experiences with this type of usage with just a fob and no foot pedal?
The plus along with the gps is the shaft will not spin more than 360 degrees damaging your cables along the shaft.
I'm accustomed to the foot pedal and realize a learning period would be needed for using just the fob.
Just looking for experiences/recommendations from current/prior Rhodan owners.
Thank you for you time.

I think it's going to depend a lot on how you fish. I'm like shire, have never hooked up pedal to my terrova. My opinion is if you need a foot pedal at times and yet want the remote you would be better off with the Ultrex Minkota. That Rodan is supposed to be a jam up motor but there again how you intend to use it makes all the difference.

I GOT A XI5 AND COULD NEVER USE THE FOOT PETAL,THE XI5 IS GOOD FOR SPOTLOCK ON BP OR TROLLING BUT I DIDN'T TROLL ,GOT THE MK ULTREX WITH FOOT CABLE AND SPOTLOCK AND IT ALSO HAS A HANDHELD REMOTE BUT I NEVER HAVE USE IT.I ALWAYS HAVE LOVE CABLE AND NOW HAVE THE BEST OF BOTH WORLDS IN ONE UNIT,IT WILL NOT TURN NO MORE THAN 370 DEGREES SO WILL NOT HURT YOUR TRANSDUCER CABLE,IT WILL DO ALL THAT A HAND HELD REMOTE TM DOES ALSO

On my Ulterra I have only hooked up the pedal to make sure it worked. As everything it is a matter of personal preference but I have used the remote for 3 years and haven’t looked back.
