Default Lowrance HDS 7 gen 3 On trolling motor Pausing?

I just installed a HDS gen 3 on my trolling motor. Seems when I am moving sorta slow and in shallow water (2ft-3ft) or less the unit seems to lock up for a minute or so, then it will work again. It is very intermittent, does any one have an idea of what is going on? Other than this small issue I love this fish finder.

My gen 2 is doing the same thing, mine will do it in any depth, not sure what is causing it. I have the HDI transducer mounted on the trolling motor.

Check to see if you have the latest software version for your unit ...

    ftp://software.lowrance.com

If so try a soft reset ... (Does not erase waypoints) ...

If that doesn't help try a hard reset ... (Does erase waypoints) ...

Thanks for the feedback. I just uploaded the latest not to long ago. I will try a soft reset.

It did not do it today but I was not shallow. I also have the HDI transducer.

    Thanks again.

I can turn mine off and restart it and it want do it again that day most of the time, but I use mine 2 or 3 times a week most of the time and it only does it every other time out. I've updated it and done the hard reset, I just been living with it, when it does it , I just turn it off and back on and go on fishing.....

After the reset is performed it's important to go into the Installation Menu under Sonar and select the correct 2d xducer that is connected to the unit ...

Check the silver tag on the xducer cable to verify which xducer is being used ...

I know several people who had this problem while using the HDI transducer. Go to the sonar menu and reduce the ping speed to something less than maximum. It has fixed the problem in many cases.

^^^^^ And make sure it's on shallow water setting in the set up menu.

Do you have the latest software in your unit and are you using the internal transducer on the TM or a Lowrance external transducer
