Remove the xducer and all xducer cabling from the TM ...

Hang the xducer in the water away from TM ... and make sure the cable isn't close to any part of the TM, it's wiring, or pedal ...

*If the interference goes away = the encroachment path is thru the xducer or xducer cable ...
*If the interference is still present = the encroachment path is thru the Sonar power system somewhere ...

With the DI units there are transducers specifically designed for the trolling motor. They have more internal shielding and can help prevent interference.

The transducer that comes with the unit is an XNT DI 25 T transducer and is intended to be mounted on the transom .... a mount can be used to mount it on the trolling motor, but without the shielding is more susceptible to noise than the XTM model transducer.
There are 2 versions of the XTM transducer one is the XTM DI 25 T and the other is the XTM 9 wide Di 20 T .... I'm not sure if the Helix 7 supports the DI wide or not.

Did you exchange the transducer that came with the unit with the XTM style transducer?

If you don't have the XTM transducer it would be cheaper to get it than to swap out the trolling motor. There is no guarantee that it will eliminate all the interference, but in several cases I have seen it do so.

This will tell you for sure which tree you need to be barking up. I'm running an MG x3 variable and Garmin 93sv. I never see interference all spring and summer, in the fall I move to a deeper lake and in the past would see spikes when hitting on button. I only see this when I get above 12 or so feet. I verified thru the above process. Made some cable path changes over the winter and will see next month. Mine was only present on 2d btw. Lots of good advice here. You can get interference from any brand of either product. Other variables also play into the equation beside name. What Rickie said is one of the best 'no money spent' ways of finding out where to look.

I agree .... Rickie's suggestion is the place to start the process of elimination. If holding the transducer and cable away from the trolling motor clears up the interference you would know for sure it is the source .... then trying the XTM transducer would be a good next step.

Always use twisted wire for powering electronics. Telephone industry learned this years ago for eliminating interference.

+1 on that one also. I used it for all my power wiring but gave up recommending it because so many people just don't believe it is effective .... It is.

I had horrible interference when I first installed my Terrova. My1198 became unreadable. Traced my wiring out. Found out same battery connected to 1198 and Terrova.

Removed 1198 from that battery. Went out on lake and used small temporary battery to power 1198. No interference at all problem solved. From that point on I never wire so that trolling motor shares anything with my electronics. Also never use my cranking battery for electronics or trolling motor. Paranoid, perhaps but I never have strange issues with my TM or electronics.

I also have gone to a seperate battery for my electronics. Much easier and no interference.
