    Default Anybody using Raymarine Axiom?

I am considering an upgrade from my HB 1197 at the console and Raymarine Axiom is one of the choices. I hear the hardware is great and the software is fast and easy to use I also like the idea of a touch screen BUT, what I haven't heard is how do the side imaging and down imaging compare to Humminbird and Lowrance? I don't expect it to compare to Mega Imaging but will it compare to the DI of Lowrance and the SI of either HB or Low? I hear the 2d chirp is comparable to the other two. If you have one or have seen one in operation in person I would like to hear what you think good or bad. I am considering the Axiom 9" and of course Lowrance and HB in the same price range.

I have ran the Raymarine Axiom 9 with 3D. It is a solid unit , very fast, good 2D and very cool 3D but the side and down vision were a major disappointment. They're not in the same league right now with the other major brands in that respect. I made the same comments on another forum where their reps post. His comment was they are working on software updates to improve the clarity and detail. The build quality and the connectors for power /transducer etc. were some of the best I've seen.

Thanks Brian, it's always good to hear an honest opinion. Your opinion confirms what I was thinking. Thanks for being a great resource.
