This is an opinion question. That being said, I like my best fish finder at the trolling motor. The logic behind that decision is that I seldom cast while planed out but do like a fairly decent depth finder there. On the other hand I often cast from the trolling motor and like to have the unit that gives the most detailed information there. That is my opinion and how I come to that opinion.

Definately do not get rid of any of the units ...

Keep it for full screen mapping ...

example, I have at the console a 597 for GPS mapping and a 998 for scouting views on them can be reversed except SI. up front I have a 798 that's linked back to the 998 and can share way points also antenna. 798 doesn't need external antenna but the high speed is a little better at slow speeds.

I think this is what Rickie is talking about

Your reply is certainly valid cw ...

Part of the OP's original question is asking for opinion of where to put the new 12 ...

I would keep all 3 and put the Helix 12 up front and the other 2 at console if it was me I've got a 899 SI up front and a 859 DI at console and I'm thinking about getting another DI unit for the front and moving my SI to my console along with my DI unit allready there that's my 2 cents worth.

I'm assuming the Helix 12 has SI, I would put the Helix and 899 at the console, the 12 for SI with the 899 for mapping, move 999 to the bow. I use to have a 998 at the console, I now have a 1198, 2 inches makes a huge difference for SI in my opinion so 4 inches would be even better.

Do you have your transducers mounted close to each other ? I have my one mounted on my jack plate with a transducer saver and was thinking about mounting the other one on the other side of jack plate the same way if I do this.
