    Default Xi5, Point One

Another question for the experts. Just installed an xi5 on my ranger. Running gen 2 touch Lowrance graphs. Also added a Point One antenna but still trying to figure out where I should put it. I was going to put point one on back of boat over structure scan transducer for marking from console, and use internal gps on front graph. But then I decided that the more accurate my tm/front graph is the better since that's where I'll be fishing, not the console. And my waypoints would be exactly over structure confirmed by 2d/di when marking, making the go to function much better when returning to spot. So what do you guys suggest? Should I use the point one, internal gen2, or the xi5 for marking waypoints up front?

My point one is on the back deck not far from the transom transducer.my console uses point one for gps and heading sensor, my front units use internal antennas for gps and point one for heading sensors.I have hds 10 on console and touch 7 and 9 at the bow and this set up works well, easy to find the structure you have marked

Ok, if I move point one to back and use it for console graphs, should I use hds 12 gen 2 internal gps or the xi5 gps for front? Is one more accurate than other? I noticed my settings will let me use either one.

That's what I would do,just make sure the point one is selected for heading sensor on the 12 at the trolling motor. The point one it refreshes faster and is probably more accurate, but my boat is setup that way and gps is usually dead on when I fish my brush piles.

How do you like your unit so far? What do you thing of the spot lock on it.

The internal GPS receiver in the HDS units are just as accurate as the Point1 for marking waypoints. As long as the bow unit is reasonably close to the bow transducer it will be fine.

I have a gen 2 hds 9 at the console. I have the point one antenna close to my transducer at the back of the boat. I have an older 522c on the bow with an external antenna sitting right next to my XI5 near the point of my bow. I do not have the units connected via ethernet so I have to mark the way points on both units.
