Question Best SI for the money?

    Hi All
I'm not up to date on the new electronics. I use side imaging, Side view only on shallow oxbows.
Figure to spend a grand or less. What's the best nowadays in SI or SV?
    Thanks

If I did not already have a Garmin on the fromt I would have went with the Lowrance TI sereies in either the 7 or the 9.

Reviews for it are somewhat poor. What do you like about it?

I went to BPS and played around with the unit they have on display and I loved the touch screen and the ease of navigating from screen to screen. I am no expert by any means so I was probably was basing my opinion off of functionality.

All brands do 2d, DI, and SI the same way ...and offer units in each sonar technology ...

There is no "one best unit for the money" ...

Uncontrollable environmental conditions (water depth, water particulate, bottom composition, etc) will have as much (or more) influence in quality of imaging than brand proprietary processing of displaying the data ...

Brand "Menu" layout and "ease of use" should be highly considered when choosing brand ... which "Menu" system is intuitive for others may not be so intuitive to another ...

As mentioned above, big box stores that have several brands demo-ed gives the opportunity to test which brand's "Menu" system seems easier to navigate ...

After the purchase - if the unit's "Menu" system is too intimidating to actually use it = one will never get the maximum benefit for their money spent ...

Me personally Humminird SI is better when looking at the outer edges Lowrance gets dark and is hard to pick out structure and fish. 2D to me Lowrance has a much cleaner screen but many times I have marked arches and the fish were not really there as it showed on the screen dropping a camera down verified my findings.
